CROA Consumer Disclosures
Federal law gives you specific rights, summarized below (“Consumer Credit File Rights Under State and Federal Law”).
You have a right to dispute for free
You have the right to dispute inaccurate information in your credit report by contacting the credit bureau directly. However, neither you nor any credit repair company has the right to have accurate, current, and verifiable information removed from your credit report.
You can do this yourself
You can dispute inaccurate items yourself at little or no cost. There is no fee to dispute inaccurate entries with the credit bureaus.
Three-day cancellation
You have a right to cancel your contract with any credit repair organization for any reason within three business days from the date you signed it.
Report violations
Credit repair companies must comply with the Credit Repair Organizations Act. You may report violations to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and your state Attorney General.
